“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.”- Dr. Ben Carson

What this quote is trying to tell us is that only you know what is best for you, meaning if you want to be someone successful or unsuccessful in life. Just like Ben, he hated to live in poverty but he knew what was best for him so he decided to change that and work hard so that he can get out of poverty and give his family a better life. He wants us to know that we can do anything that comes to mind as long as we achieve it and work hard for it. We need to choose the right so that we can do something great in life because that’s what Ben did. An example for this quote would be you failing your classes at school and you know that you’re not smart, what should you do? Speak up and ask for help or keep going the wrong way. I would tell you to ask for help because so that you can raise up your grades and do better in the future. We need to be able to have the courage to work hard and achieve anything we want.
